How to Convert PDF to GIF in 5 Easy Steps

A lot of important digital files are stored and shared as PDFs because of the format’s unique properties.

Once created, PDFs keep the same layout no matter how many times they were sent over the internet or transferred from one drive to another. Recipients never experience any compatibility issues when viewing such documents because PDFs can be properly displayed on any device and platform.

However, the problem arises when you want to showcase your work through highly visual, image-intense platforms where the attention-span is high. Such platforms don’t usually support the Portable Document Format. So if you want to leverage social networks such as Instagram or Pinterest to get noticed, the best way is to convert a few selected PDF pages to GIF and share it that way.

One tool that allows users to convert PDF to various image formats is Able2Extract Professional 12. Let’s see how you can repurpose your PDF files by making attractive graphics out of them to catch the eye of a job recruiter or boost the number of downloads on a PDF ebook hosted on your website.

Step 1: To open the file, click on the Open icon on the Toolbar and browse for the file.

Before you get to the next step, we should point out that PDF pages will act as slides after the conversion to GIF. So, if you have a lengthy document for PDF to GIF conversion it would be wise to select up to a dozen best pages to keep your graphic short and sweet.

By doing so, you’ll make viewers curious to check out the whole document. And that’s what you’re aiming for, right? OK, let’s move on.

Step 2: Before actually converting the file, you need to make a selection. If you want to convert the whole file, click on the All icon in the Toolbar or press Ctrl+A on your keyboard. To select specific pages, go to Edit>Select Page Range and type in the numbers.

Bonus tip: You can always rearrange your PDF, delete PDF pages, or insert PDF pages from another file by using Able2Extract’s editing features. Switch to Edit mode by clicking the Edit icon in the toolbar once the document is open and check out the Pages section in the bottom-right corner of the interface.

Step 3: Next, click on the Image icon in the Toolbar and the Convert to Image window will present you with 5 options. Select the fourth one from the top: GIF – Graphics Interchange Format.

Step 4: Now it’s time to set the GIF duration and dimensions. Check the Multipage Image box and select how many seconds will individual pages last in the whole animation (eg. if you have 10 pages and set the GIF Animation Speed to 2 seconds per page, your GIF will last for 20 seconds in total). If you want to decrease the size of the resulting file you can opt for Black and White output.

The best way to set the image size is to define it by Scale. For example, if your PDF pages are too big (A3 format) you can choose 50% which will decrease the format to ¼ of the original size (A5 format). Play around with these options to strike the perfect balance between the quality and the size of your GIF slides.

Step 5: Click on the Convert button and you’ll have your animation ready in seconds.
